AORE is requesting members to review the newly released draft of the Wilderness First Responder Scope of Practices document. Rick Dawson has been working in outdoor education for more than 15 years. He has held various leadership positions that have enabled him to integrate his passion for student development, outdoor education and leadership, expeditionary and experiential learning, critical pedagogy, curriculum development, and instruction. He has extensive experience in curriculum development and educational leadership, and has worked in public, private, and higher education leading schools in the design/redesign of curricular and treatment models.
Rick is currently the Director of Adventure Sports at Adirondack Community College. As Director, he designed and implemented the Adventure Sports: Leadership & Management degree and the non-credit Adventure Sports Center. Rick earned his B.A from Marist College and completed his M.Ed. with distinction at Northern Arizona University. He is an avid skier and paddler and can be found enjoying the lakes, mountains and rivers of the Northeast and Southwest with his family. Rick lives in Queensbury, NY with his wife Christine and daughters Addy and Chloe.
