A Better Association for All

A Better Association for All
Two major items that require a member vote are happening in September!
Bylaws Alignment
Earlier this year the Bylaws Alignment Taskforce was created to conduct a review of the AORE Bylaws and make a recommendation for changes to the Bylaws to the Board of Directors and Executive Director. The taskforce completed it’s work in June and the Board of Directors has endorsed the recommendations. Messaging to voting members began in early July and members of the taskforce and Board of Directors hosted three town hall discussions to review the changes and their impact on the evolution of the Association.

We invite all members to log into the AORE member section of the website and visit the Bylaws Alignment Resource page. There you will find:
Pro Tip:  Go to the final page of the proposed bylaws for an easy guide to the changes.

Board of Directors
As an AORE member, one of your most important roles is to select the Association’s leadership. You play a vital role in setting the course for our future. Your voice matters. The AORE Board of Directors will have five (5) total vacancies. There will be four (4) four-year terms (2021-2024) and a (1) one-year term for the Student Director (2021).

The voting period starts on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at 9 AM EST and will end on Wednesday, September 30th at 11:59 PM EST.

Voting Eligibility
You must have a valid Professional or Student Professional membership as of 8:00 AM ET on Monday, August 31, 2020, to be eligible to vote in the 2020 AORE Election. Please contact Jenny Hill at nationaloffice@aore.org if you have any questions or concerns regarding your membership or eligibility.

Casting Your Online Vote
The AORE uses a third-party service, AssociationVoting, to administer and validate online voting. All eligible voters will receive an email with their voting credentials directly from AssociationVoting.com at the start of the election (this notice may land in your spam/junk folder, so please be sure to check it). You may receive up to four reminders/notifications from AssociationVoting.com throughout the election window encouraging you to cast your vote.  Please note that once your vote has been cast, you should no longer receive reminders.

PLEASE NOTE: This election cycle, the Board has not received any applications or nominations for the Student Director Position for the Board of Directors for the 2021 term.  As such, current Student Professional Members will not be able to vote for the Student Director at this time.  The Board recognizes the importance of the Student Director position and will work closely with the Governance Committee to identify a resolution that will align with the requirements of AORE's bylaws.  Should you, or another Student Professional Member you know, be interested in being considered for the position, please contact Board Chair Kellie Gerbers at kgerbers@westminstercollege.edu.  While we cannot outline the process in detail until further review, we hope to find a way to hold a vote for the Student Director at a later time.
