We know the world feels and looks different right now.

We know each of you are experiencing many uncertainties.

For some, this has brought time to sit back with nowhere to go, nothing to do.

For some, you are experiencing drastic changes to your work.

For others, you are having to add more work to manage the various needs of others.

Our Annual Conference Proposal deadline is certainly not on the top of your mind. We invite you to take some time and think about the process of submitting a proposal and your plans to present. We hope you will still consider submitting! AORE will continue to provide an outlet for education. Your expertise is still needed in the industry, even more so at a time when the industry feels shaken.

AORE continues planning for the  2020 Annual Conference in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, October 28-30th. We dont know what that will look like or how that will shape up; we do know that as your association for outdoor recreation and education, we play a critical role in supporting you now and as things return to a semblance of normal.  We recognize the need for community, resources, networks and professional development - for you and for all those you serve.

Given our (AOREs) capacity for and familiarity with remote meetings and webinars, should there be a disruption to the physical conference, we are confident we can provide a strong educational virtual experience.

All that being said, your proposals are still very much needed and we are looking forward to seeing more come in! This communication serves as a reminder of the upcoming deadline (Friday, March 27, 2020) and that the submission process is truly a process requiring forethought and time. You may have more or less of that time on your hands right now; either way, we hope you will continue to see through this time with us and know that your efforts to present are critical to helping our industry recover from this unprecedented time.

CALL FOR REVIEWERS

For our members interested in helping to shape the education content of the conference, we invite you to join our PROPOSAL REVIEW TEAM [click that link when logged into AORE's website or send an email stating your interest to nationaloffice@aore.org]. Each member of the review team reads, assesses and scores a sub-set of proposal submissions. The Education Action Team takes those scores into consideration when finalizing the presentations for the Annual Conference. We hope you will join us in curating an educational experience for everyone.

Association Chats

We are providing weekly opportunities for our members to meet virtually over the course of the next couple months and will continue that as our members need and want that. We have weekly Association Chats scheduled from now through the end of April and will continue beyond then. These virtual forums combine thirty minutes of education followed by thirty minutes of dialogue among members. Our first two were well received and we hope youll join us when the timing is right for you or every week!
