Meet AORE's 2019 Campus Challenge Coordinators!

The first year of AORE hosting Campus Challenge is officially underway! Registration closed on April 5th with record numbers signing up for this exciting competition that will unite campuses nation-wide in the goal of getting outdoors and staying active. Now, it's time to get ready for four weeks of fun this fall and our trusty team of student coordinators will be available to support participants every step of the way. Throughout the duration of AORE's new signature program, they will also be working to better understand the needs of enrolled schools in order to help the AORE leadership team develop strategies for the future growth of Campus Challenge.

Take a moment to read a little more about these enthusiastic student volunteers and don't hesitate to reach out to our national office with any questions you might have!

Courtney Ignat

Hello! I am finishing up my second year at Central Michigan University. Upon graduation in 2021, I will be receiving my Bachelor of Science with a major in Outdoor Recreation and minor in Environmental Policy/Sustainability. I was born and raised with exposure to the outdoors. Summer camp was the best week of the year for me and going to stay at our Upper Peninsula cabin was vacation. I pursued medicine as my career path from the time I was in Kindergarten until college spring break 2018. I traveled to Denver, CO, wondered why I was wasting my life indoors, and upon return to campus changed my career path. I have never been happier! This summer I will be working as a high-ropes course instructor at a camp in Maine!

Michael Latour

I am in my second semester at Central Michigan University, however I am at sophomore status. I am pursuing a degree in Outdoor Recreation, with a double minor in Leadership and Sustainability/Environmental Policy. I was born in Mount Pleasant, MI, and I have pretty much always known I wanted to attend CMU. I now live in Elwell, MI, and I commute to campus from home every day. I am a huge outdoorsman and love pretty much everything outdoors. I was introduced to the outdoors by my dad when I was a very young child and I have loved it ever since. My favorite hobbies are hunting, fishing trapping, disc golfing, football, and basketball. My goal is to become a conservation officer for the DNR someday. I am excited to be involved with Campus Challenge!

I am currently in my junior year working on a double major in Recreation and Biology. I’m 21 years old and from Swartz Creek, MI. This summer I got to work in a state park and really enjoyed it; this experience helped me decide to double major instead of minoring in recreation. I love to camp and hike as my family has been doing things in the outdoors since I can remember. I’d hate to say that I’m boring, but I would just say that I’m pretty simple!

I am a senior at Central Michigan University studying Recreation and Event Management with a double minor in Leadership and Marketing. I enjoy being outdoors, reading, traveling, art, and spending my free time with family, friends, or loved ones.
