Dear Members, Supporters, and Friends of AORE,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to share some important and exciting updates about the future of the Association of Outdoor Recreation and Education.

After thoughtful planning and reflection, the Board of Directors is pleased to announce that we will soon be hiring a new Executive Director to lead our organization into its next chapter. This leadership transition marks a significant milestone for AORE, and we are confident it will strengthen our ability to fulfill our mission, and serve our community. The application for this role is now officially open and we will be accepting priority applications through the end of October.

In conjunction with hiring a new Executive Director, we will be downsizing and restructuring the National Office. These changes are being made after great care and consideration from the Board of Directors, with the help and insight from the Financial Advisory Committee, and are aimed at ensuring our long-term financial sustainability. We are still in conversations with National Office Staff and are working to finalize these changes. We will provide an update once we have more complete information. We are grateful for the National Office Staff who have been pivotal in moving the Association forward during this time of transition.

We remain deeply committed to transparency and will continue to keep you updated throughout this process. As more updates and information arise, membership will be notified. As always, we are grateful for your ongoing support, passion, and belief in our mission.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more about these changes, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at boardchair@aore.org

If you or someone you know may be interested in applying for the Executive Director position, please view and/or share the position prospectus and the official application

Take care,
Morgan Costello
