J.C. Miller, Assistant Director of Outdoor Recreation

I am volunteering with AORE because of the tremendous benefits I gained from last year's Outdoor Professionals Conference, which significantly contributed to my success in my current role. I am motivated to give back and assist in providing other professionals with the same enriching experience.

LOOP NOLA

Heather West, Executive Director, LOOP NOLA

I am a native New Orleanian, and I am THRILLED to have an AORE conference in New Orleans! New Orleans culture is not really big into outdoor adventure sports or outdoor recreation apart from hunting, fishing, and organized athletics. I've worked in the Outdoor Education industry since 2009, beginning with Outward Bound leading 20-28 day canoeing and backpacking trips. I moved back to New Orleans with little hope of establishing a career in the outdoor industry here, but I began working for LOOP NOLA in 2016 as the Program Director and moved into the Executive Director role in 2022. As someone who loves outdoor education and grew up here, I'm very excited to help out at a local conference promoting outdoor recreation and education.

A really unique culture -- New Orleans is a funky little "big" city. And even if the conference serves food, I hope that attendees go out to some of our fantastic restaurants and go hear some live music and check out the local history. I specifically hope that they go places other than Bourbon Street.
