Exploring the Intersection of Health and Wellbeing
and Outdoor Education through a Women’s Leadership Lens
 
AORE recognizes that women are "nature-born" leaders that bring unique perspectives and skills to the collective work of our field. Thanks to the generous support of G Adventures, Global University 2019 is offering a once-in-a-lifetime learning expedition to Costa Rica that is intentionally designed for women leaders working in outdoor recreation and education.​

This immersive cultural experience will foster professional development, encourage networking, and develop paths for women to transcend organizations. Trip participants will also explore the intersection of health and wellness with our profession through a women’s leadership lens as well as examine best practices and unpack big topics such as the importance of diversity and inclusion, social determinants of health, and the need to build multi-cultural competency. Delivered in a thoughtful, non-judgmental environment, our robust curriculum promises to make for a truly transformative global adventure! An overview of the trip is included below.

Global University 2019 kicks off on May 21 when trip participants arrive in San José, the capital city of Costa Rica. During the course of their adventure, participants will make stops in La Fortuna, Sarapiquí,  and Tortuguero to meet with residents and learn about local landmarks, history, art and culture, cuisine, and the economy. Outdoor activities include: paddle boarding, kayaking, hiking, and swimming with planned visits to see tumbling waterfalls, majestic volcanoes, pristine lakes, lush jungles, and sunny beaches.
